Already at the age of four, Shi Yong Zhi studied Shaolin wushu and calligraphy with his father Shi Xing Shu, who was able to eventually impart all of his knowledge to his son. Presently, Shi Yong Zhi is the Chief Instructor of the Combat Monks in Shaolin Temple and is the highest ranking among the 18 Luohan Combat Monks of the Shaolin Temple.

Shi Yong Zhi is also an important person for President Shi Yong Xin of the Shaolin Temple, whom he accompanies in all of his travels. During eight years, Shi Yong Zhi held a managerial role as the Chief Instructor of Combat Monks but has not continued in role since the Shaolin Temple has become increasingly a tourist attraction. Since then he has withdrawn and moved the Luohan Yuan school to the current location in order to preserve the culture and martial arts of the Shaolin Temple. Within Luohan Yuan, he founded Zhaozi Yuan, which informs the central point of the institution. Today, Luohan Yuan and Zhaozi Yuan are the main martial arts schools in the Shaolin Temple, and everything historical and traditional is taught and preserved there. Thus, this school itself has an important meaning; whether in the past, present, or future.

Shi Yong Zhi is one of the main internal disciples of the Shaolin Temple. Not only does he play a significant role in the present day, but also for the future of the Shaolin Temple’s culture. As far as culture and martial arts are concerned, he is the only one who could hold everything together and preserve it. Shi Yon Zhi has decided that he wants to work with Shi Yong Heng to continue to spread martial arts.
